The Border Problem

The Senate has just overwhelming (89-1) approved $3 Billion dollars to the border security. Do you feel that spending more money on the border is the best solution to the immigration issue. However, i definitely dont feel that Bush's plan of No Amnesty, in which everyone thats already in counrty gets off the hook anyways (which totally is Amnesty), isn't a real awsome solution either. Perhaps we should just open the whole border up?

This is a real tough issue that has many different tangents and complexitites, but i for one, dont feel that i understand all of this well enough to make a real educated descion on what i support.

What is everyone elses take?

Lohan...Need i say more

Normally i would not care or pay any attention to the celebrity scene. However, at Idaho Title and Trust, i work with a bunch of celeb crazed phompfs, who on break, read nothing but US Weekly and People Magazine. So now that i've saved my manhood i'll move on ahead. Linsay has done it again, and recently got busted for another DUI and narcotics possesion, and SHE JUST GOT OUT OF REHAB. But what can you do...shes rich and famous and i guess thats the only thing that matters in Malibu, Cali.

Well i'm not going to go into the other peticulars but i feel like something permanent should be done to her....like Jail time....serious jail time. Or at least major probation or house arrest. If things continue i would not be surprised if she's killed herself or somebody else before i get back from Costa Rica.

Any Possible (or Permanent) solutions

Intern Gone Missing

Democratic US Representitive Gary Condit filed for a defamation lawsuit against a weekly Arizona newspaper called Sonoran News(They feel they are the conservative voice of the state) who apparently claimed that Condit had lied to investigators about his relationship with one of his female interns that had gone missing years ago. Condit served for 13 years before losing a re-election in 2002, the same year that Chandra Levy, the intern in question, was found in Washington Park. Condit denied any involvment in Levy's disappearence. No Charges were filed. The Judge (Kristin Hoffman) reasoned her ruling by stating that condit could not prove that Sonoran's Staements of his questionable invovment were false. He also failed to prove that Sonoran News' claim was a reckless disregard fro truth. In addition, Condit balked answering questions from investigators on whether or not he had "any romantic or sexual relations with Chandra Levy", then later, he told Police that he had had an affair with Levy, but that they had no romantic relations and that they were "just friends".

To me, Condit looks like a real good suspect, and i dont think i blame Sonoran New's from questioning his involvment. Condit and his lawyer are angry with the fact that they are not recieving more protection as a public official from the media. Anyways, Sonoran New's is only demanding that Condit cover their legal fees, and I'm not sure whether or not the case of Levy's death is closed or not. I do not belive that Condit is currently being prosecuted for her Murder.

Any Thoughts?

NY Times Jump the Gun

I know many of you might be getting sick and tired of all the Harry Potter hype. However, as it is one of the greatest literary installmnets of our generation, i feel this next post is justified. As some of you know, an internet hacker accquired a digital copy of book 7:the deathly Hollows. He then threatened to release it publicly and spoil the whole series. Well as it happens to be, the story got out and many tabloid companies and internet spoilers released their copies notwithstanding many plees from fans, publishers, and JK Rowling Herself. Then just days before the release, the New York Times published a review of the book, claiming they accquired a copy from a not-so-well-traveled book store in NYC. The Review doesnt reveal devastating secrets or huge secrets, but does delve into many of the peticulars and does reveal some key information for any reader that would like to find out how the story ends on their own(which accounts for millions and millions of people, including myself). To make a long story short, the NYT is under intense criticism. The Public Editor stated that he felt he was justified because they attained the copy legally and never made any agreements to protect the big debut of the book.

Do you feel the NYT is justified or are you disappointed that someone would try to make money at the expense of such a great conclusion to "the series" of our generation?

NBA - Fixed Games Scandal

Just recently i read a column on yahoo about how the FBI has been investigating several officials that have reputations as addicted sports gamblers. This is obviously a big no no not just for the NBA and its credibility as a league, but in the refereeing world as a whole. There has been no public charges yet, but the column led me to believe that the NBA is really worried about this getting out. Personally, i love the NBA playoffs and would hate to find out if a playoff game was decided by a "twisted whistle". When i read this story i immediately thought of the Spurs-Suns series. You may remmeber a time when Rober Horry checked Steve Nash into the scorers table. Players from both sides stood up from their benches and Amare Staudamire ended up being suspened for a game or two, while Tim Duncan, who did the same thing earlier in the game, came away scott free. Well...guess who ends up winning another NBA title...the Spurs. Coincindence??? I sure hope so.
