NBA - Fixed Games Scandal
Just recently i read a column on yahoo about how the FBI has been investigating several officials that have reputations as addicted sports gamblers. This is obviously a big no no not just for the NBA and its credibility as a league, but in the refereeing world as a whole. There has been no public charges yet, but the column led me to believe that the NBA is really worried about this getting out. Personally, i love the NBA playoffs and would hate to find out if a playoff game was decided by a "twisted whistle". When i read this story i immediately thought of the Spurs-Suns series. You may remmeber a time when Rober Horry checked Steve Nash into the scorers table. Players from both sides stood up from their benches and Amare Staudamire ended up being suspened for a game or two, while Tim Duncan, who did the same thing earlier in the game, came away scott free. Well...guess who ends up winning another NBA title...the Spurs. Coincindence??? I sure hope so.
