NY Times Jump the Gun

I know many of you might be getting sick and tired of all the Harry Potter hype. However, as it is one of the greatest literary installmnets of our generation, i feel this next post is justified. As some of you know, an internet hacker accquired a digital copy of book 7:the deathly Hollows. He then threatened to release it publicly and spoil the whole series. Well as it happens to be, the story got out and many tabloid companies and internet spoilers released their copies notwithstanding many plees from fans, publishers, and JK Rowling Herself. Then just days before the release, the New York Times published a review of the book, claiming they accquired a copy from a not-so-well-traveled book store in NYC. The Review doesnt reveal devastating secrets or huge secrets, but does delve into many of the peticulars and does reveal some key information for any reader that would like to find out how the story ends on their own(which accounts for millions and millions of people, including myself). To make a long story short, the NYT is under intense criticism. The Public Editor stated that he felt he was justified because they attained the copy legally and never made any agreements to protect the big debut of the book.

Do you feel the NYT is justified or are you disappointed that someone would try to make money at the expense of such a great conclusion to "the series" of our generation?

I think the NYT did a big disservice to all print media.

I think NYT made an unethical decision. Harry Potter fans just want to read the book. . . Let him.

Nice to see you join us. Loved the Harry Potter movie...best one yet. I think the NYT should have let it alone. I am, however, looking forward to my friend who is getting the book at 12:01 tonight (yes she will be in costume) to read it and tell me the end/who dies etc by Monday morning.

So here is your next discussion. Is your Aunt bad for reading the last chaper of Harry Potter first? Did I commit a sin? Ya' know what? Who cares! I know what happens! And its good...hee hee hee

Laurel of course you read the last chapter first... Don't read into that any further than needs be. I think that the NYT did a disservice to Hogwartz and will therefore be exiled to outer darkness.
